Consent for Data Processing

This page is the Identity Provider (IdP) of the German Maritime Museum (Deutschen Schifffahrtsmuseum). The IdP is used for the secure authentication on services, so called Service Provider (SP), that are available via the DFN-AAI. Therefore the IdP is connected with the user directory of the German Maritime Museum (Deutsches Schifffahrtsmuseum).

The athentication and authorization infrastructure DFN-AAI is managed by the DFN (German Research and Education Network). It creates the necessary trust relationship and organizational technical frame for an exchange of user information between institutions (IdP) and service providers (SP) in the DFN-AAI.

During the login process the IdP first executes an authentication of the user. This usually requires the input of an user ID and password. The validation of your login data allways happens at the IdP of your provider (here: German Maritime Museum. These login data will not be submitted to any SP. Afterward the necessary data (so called attributes) for using a service will be submitted to the corresponding SP. This could be for example the users name, mail address or group association within the German Maritime Museum (researcher, employee, ...). You may be prompted to explicitly confirm the submission of particular attributes on you first use of an SP.

Many Service Providers (SP) require only SP specific or persistent pseudonyme IDs to follow the principle of data minimisation. To accieve this the IDs are generated by the IdP during the authentication process and stored indefinitely. With the activation of the checkbox below this text you consent to the storage of information associated with this process by the IdP. You can always revoke your consent towards the IdP via mail to idp@dsm.museum. This revocation of the consent does not modify the legitimacy of data processing that happened until the revocation.

A SP may require additional information about you. In that case you will be prompted to accept that data transfer seperately.

More information about the privacy policy you can find under the page for Privacy Policy.
